Juneteenth rocks…
There used to be a guy out at COTH in 2003 named Jeremy Gordon that was really in touch with African American History. And so he used to tell his cabin stories about Juneteenth…some cool folklore and all that. It was awesome. THe guy would spend some portion of his Saturdays at Barnes and Noble reading up on Afro-American movements and civil rights. So tomorrow i’m bringing out the Baldwin, Ellison, Wright flavor. What a cool holiday…

Happy Juneteenth, Father’s Day, and multiple anniversaries indeed. Thanks for the message on my blog, thought I’d return the favor. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the trip and finding some independence time- I know how important that is to you. You guys are entering the home stretch, so I pray that you will make the most of every opportunity God gives you. Can’t wait to see you when you get home- maybe you can come visit at camp.

Wish i could say more people were excited about Juneteenth here. i mean i couldn’t find much of any cheer of activity going on. It may have hurt that it was on a Sunday…still i was upset that no one but me mentioned it at church. And like i had to explain it to most. And then i started proclaiming how cool it was…and these guys behind me snickered…and i almost went ballistic. But i figured smacking a guy or cursing in church was inappropriate, needless to say. But for me Juneteenth was good…so that is some good all in itself.
